everyday makeup

May 4th, 2011

I have really been loving these video tutorials lately!  I’ve already filmed two more (both hair-related, and I can’t wait to share them), so these will be part of Sugarlaws for a long time to come.  My Kate Middleton tutorial video got almost 5,000 YouTube views and so many new people have subscribed to the channel or left comments!  Thousands and thousands of people come to Sugarlaws every day, but I feel like I don’t get to know all of you guys as much as I’d like to, and it’s been nice to get to know a few though these videos.

And on that note: Write a comment!  You don’t have to have a blog to participate in the discussion — I’m sometimes stopped in the street by girls who’ve read Sugarlaws for years, but they’ve never left comments, so I don’t know who they are!  You guys are my FAVORITE part of having this blog, hands down, and without you I would have probably abandoned this project in the first few months.  So chime in!  Email me! Let me know about you too!  The better we all get to know each other, the better this site is going to be.

And on the makeup: This is basically my everyday routine!  It’s really natural-looking, with foundation and a little bronzer and a soft golden eye.  Perfect for work, weekend, going out to brunch or dinner, basically anything!  Especially for summer, I gravitate towards browns and neutrals instead of greys and blacks for eyeshadow and mascara, and a little cheek color and lip gloss seals the deal!  Enjoy!

Thanks guys!  PS — I can’t even take credit for the skin, this powder is a miracle worker: http://www.amazon.com/Laura-Mercier-Shimmer-Loose-Powder/dp/B000674XPU

Love it! I especially love that it came through to my email while I was getting ready for work, so I got to try out the concept today! And it feels wonderful and looks awesome! I have the hardest time with bronzer, I never know where to put it, lol, but after watching you it was easy. Thank you! =)

Stunning. Love the videos too. PS where did you get those earrings?

  • 10 Katy // May 5, 2011 at 11:47 am

From Gilt, forever ago!  They’re Rachel Leigh, a designer I totally love!

    fantastic earrings!

just discovered your blog via the link from tory burch ๐Ÿ™‚ i like your whole blogging philsophy – i’m very much of a commenter on blog posts rather than trying to follow a million blogs all at once! comments are a great way to interact & share ideas ๐Ÿ™‚

ps i’m also trying to build up a blog that covers food & style, i’m finding the foodie part easier though – turns out it’s pretty difficult to take decent self-portraits on the self-timer in my bedroom!

Tell me about it!  I do mine with a tripod too, so it’s always a struggle to make them look natural and not silly!  But I totally agree, food photos are a breeze in comparison!

    Checking out your blog now!

I’ve not been reading long, in the royal wedding fever I googled her hair and hey presto, now I read you everyday!

Hmm about me! I’m 26, I’m training to be a lawyer but my training is on hold due to an illness. I’ve blogged for 6 years, the last 3 of which have been about what it is to be ill, though I’m getting better all the time ๐Ÿ™‚ I also blog about silly things I do!!
