Ingredients
- 4 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 3 Tbsp butter, divided
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 3 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp toasted sesame oil
- 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1/2 lb. frozen broccoli florets
- 8 oz. spaghetti
- 4 green onions
- 2 pinches crushed red pepper flakes
Directions
- Put 2 Tbsp butter in a bowl and melt it, using the microwave for about 20 seconds. Add the oyster sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil, then stir until the sauce comes together. Set it aside.
- Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil. Add the spaghetti once the water is boiling, and cook until the pasta is tender, about 7 minutes. Pour the spaghetti into a colander to drain.
- As the spaghetti cooks, get the beef and broccoli started. Melt the remaining 1 Tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook it over medium heat until no longer pink, 5-7 minutes. If your beef has more fat, drain it before continuing; with 10% fat beef, there may not be much to remove.
- While the beef is on the stove, mince the garlic. Stir the garlic into the skillet with the browned beef, and cook over medium heat for another 1-2 minutes, just until the garlic softens a bit.
- Add the frozen broccoli florets to the skillet with the garlic and beef. Sauté over medium heat only until the broccoli is no longer frozen. It will keep cooking after this, so it does not need to be hot all the way through yet.
- Add the drained spaghetti and the sauce to the skillet with the beef and broccoli. Cook, stirring, until the noodles, beef, and broccoli are evenly mixed, coated with sauce, and warmed through.
- Thinly slice the green onions and scatter them over the top right before serving. Add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes, if desired.
