Ingredients
- 1/2 lb thinly sliced pork loin
- 1/4 onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 inch ginger
- Salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 1 Tbsp neutral flavor oil
- 1 green onion/scallion, finely chopped
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp mirin
- 2 Tbsp sake
- 1 tsp sugar
Directions
- Set out all of your ingredients. Using a small bowl, grate the onion, garlic and ginger, then stir in the seasonings. For a slightly sweeter sauce, mix in 1 tsp. sugar, if you like.
- Sprinkle the pork with salt and pepper. Warm the oil in a large non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat, then arrange the pork in one flat layer, working in batches as needed.
- Once the underside has browned, turn the pork over. Very thin slices cook fast, so watch them closely; you want the pork fully cooked, but not left in the pan so long that it turns tough.
- As soon as the pork is cooked through, pour in the seasoning mixture and add the chopped scallion. Serve right away.
