Ingredients
- 1 pound asparagus, thick spears
- 1-2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- Kosher salt
Directions
- Heat your grill to high and set it up for direct cooking. Trim the asparagus by snapping or slicing away any tough lower ends; save those for stock or toss them. Set the spears in a pan so they are easy to move to and from the grill. Add olive oil and turn the asparagus to coat, then season with salt.
- Lightly oil the grill grates. Lay the asparagus on the grill with the thicker ends facing the hottest area. If you are using a grill pan instead, get it hot over high heat.
- Cook the asparagus for 2-4 minutes, turning the spears often so they color evenly, until they are lightly charred and just tender when pierced with a fork.
- Take the asparagus off the grill and serve.
