Ingredients
- 1 pound cake, sliced into 1-inch thick pieces
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups fresh seasonal berries
- 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Ice cream, for serving, optional
Directions
- Warm a grill or grill pan over medium-low heat. Coat the pound cake slices with the melted butter, then grill them until they’re nicely toasted, about 2 minutes per side.
- Set a small saucepan over medium-low heat and add the berries, lemon juice, and sugar. Cook for about 10 minutes, until the berries soften and start letting off their juices; a gentle press is perfectly fair game.
- Spoon the sauce over each slice, or tuck it between two slices if you want a little dessert sandwich situation. Add ice cream if you’d like.
