Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp lime juice
- 1-2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 large garlic clove, smashed and minced
- 4 6-ounce salmon fillets
- Vegetable oil, for greasing the broiler pan
Directions
- Stir the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, lime juice, sugar, and garlic in a bowl until the marinade is smooth and even. Give it a taste, then tweak it the way you like it, adding more lime juice if it leans too sweet or more sugar if it tastes too sharp.
- Turn the salmon in the marinade so each piece is well coated, then refrigerate it for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Move the broiler rack so the salmon will sit about 6 inches below the heat, then switch on the broiler. Brush a foil-lined broiling pan lightly with vegetable oil.
- Set the salmon on the prepared pan, skin side down if the fillets have skin on 1 side, and brush on a bit more marinade.
- Broil the salmon until it is cooked through, about 5-10 minutes, depending on how thick the fillets are and how hot your broiler runs.
- Serve with steamed rice. Asparagus or Asian coleslaw would both fit nicely on the plate.
