Ingredients
- Salt
- Butter
- Garlic
- Water
- Milk
- Baking soda
- Egg
- Pepper
- Honey
- Onion
- Cream cheese
- Flour
- Buttermilk
- Sesame seeds
- Half
- Cream
- Onions
- Cooking spray
Directions
- For the pigs, heat the oven to 425 degrees. Coat a large baking sheet lightly with cooking spray.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll the pizza dough into an 11x17-inch rectangle. Slice the dough into 42 equal strips, using your fingertips to gently lengthen each strip a bit. Wrap 1 strip snugly around each cocktail frank, going horizontally, then set the wrapped franks on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a large stockpot, bring 8 cups water to a boil. Stir in the baking soda and honey until they dissolve. Lower 5 to 6 wrapped franks into the water and cook for 20 to 30 seconds. Use a slotted spoon to move them back to the baking sheet. Continue the same way until every wrapped frank has been boiled, then space them 1 inch apart on the baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, whisk the egg with the half-and-half. In a shallow bowl, stir together the poppy seeds, sesame seeds, dried onions, dried garlic, and salt. With a pastry brush, lightly coat the dough on each frank with the egg mixture, then carefully roll it in the poppy seed mixture and place it back on the baking sheet as you go.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes, until lightly browned. Let them cool on the sheet for 5 to 10 minutes. Use a spatula to carefully move them to a platter. Serve with cream cheese dip.
- For the dip, put the softened cream cheese in a medium bowl and beat it with an electric mixer until fluffy. Turn the mixer to low speed, then blend in the buttermilk and remaining ingredients through pepper until smooth.
