Sausage and Biscuit Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup flour

1/2 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

4 tablespoons butter, cold

6 tablespoons buttermilk

1 pound breakfast sausage

6 slices American cheese

Canola oil

Directions

Preheat the oven 450 degrees F. Meanwhile, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Chop the butter into small pieces, and then add to the bowl. Using your finger, rub the butter and flour between your fingers until the flour looks like it has pea-sized crumbs. Cut out the biscuits with a 2-inch biscuit cutter. You should get about 5 to 6 biscuits. Place on a greased baking sheet and cook in the oven for 15 minutes. Form the sausage into 5 or 6 patties. Heat an iron skillet over medium heat. Add a bit of a canola oil, then add the patties. Cook until completely cooked, turning every minute or so. Drain on a paper towel. Slice the biscuits in half. Add a slice of cheese and a patty of sausage in between and serve.
