Sticky Honey Orange Grilled Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 Tbsp orange zest
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp hot sauce
  • 2 Tbsp dijon mustard
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 1/2 lbs boneless chicken thighs, trimmed of excess fat
  • 1 tsp chopped parsley, for garnish, optional
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 tsp orange zest
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce

Directions

  1. Whisk the orange juice, orange zest, lemon juice, olive oil, hot sauce, dijon mustard, and garlic together in a medium bowl. Add the chicken thighs to a gallon size resealable bag, pour in the marinade, and close the bag, pushing out the extra air as you seal it. Massage the marinade around the chicken, then refrigerate for 1 – 6 hours.
  2. Heat the grill to medium-high, aiming for about 400 degrees. As it heats, make the glaze: melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat, then whisk in the honey, orange juice, orange zest, BBQ sauce, and dijon mustard. Take the pan off the heat, and set aside about 1/3 cup to spoon over the chicken later.
  3. Grill the chicken for about 4 minutes on each side. Brush it with the glaze, then continue grilling until the chicken is cooked through, reaches 165 degrees in the center, and has a little char, about 2 minutes more per side. Serve warm with the reserved glaze and parsley, if you want to add it.
