Ingredients
- One half a large red cabbage, sliced 1/4-inch thick
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- Kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
Directions
- Set a large pot over medium heat and melt the butter. Add the sliced red cabbage, turning it through the butter until it is well coated. Cook, stirring now and then, until the cabbage begins to soften and slump, about 5 minutes.
- Scatter the sugar over the cabbage and stir so it is evenly distributed. Pour in the balsamic vinegar, then bring everything to a simmer. Lower the heat to medium low.
- Cover the pot and let the cabbage simmer until it is fully tender, stirring frequently, about 30 minutes total.
- Taste, then season with salt and pepper.
