Ingredients
- 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 28 oz. crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning blend
- Freshly cracked pepper
- Salt, to taste
Directions
- Combine the ground beef and olive oil in a pot, then cook over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink, about 5 minutes. If your beef is 10% fat or higher, drain off the extra fat after it browns.
- As the beef cooks, chop the onion finely. Stir the onion and butter into the cooked beef, and keep sautéing until the onion turns soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes, then add the Italian seasoning blend and freshly cracked pepper, about 10-15 turns of a pepper mill. Stir until everything is evenly mixed.
- Cover the pot and bring the sauce to a simmer. When it begins simmering, turn the heat down to low and let it gently cook for 30 minutes.
- Once the sauce has simmered for at least 30 minutes, stir in about 1/2 tsp salt. Taste, then add more salt if it needs it. Serve over pasta or your favorite roasted vegetables.
