Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons natural unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 cups cold chocolate milk
- Pinch of salt
- 1 large egg
- 4 ounces chopped chocolate
- 10 ounces chocolate vanilla sandwich cookies, about 20 cookies
- 12 gummy worms
Directions
- Add the cocoa powder, cornstarch, chocolate milk and salt to a large saucepan. Stir until the dry ingredients are worked into the milk.
- Set the pan over high heat and cook until the mixture begins bubbling. Lower the heat to a simmer and continue cooking until it thickens, about 3 to 5 minutes.
- Crack the egg into a large bowl and whisk it. Pour in a small amount of the hot chocolate mixture very gradually while whisking the whole time. Keep adding the chocolate mixture slowly, whisking well as you go, until everything has been combined. It should remain warm.
- Stir in the chopped chocolate, mixing until it is fully melted into the pudding.
- Spoon the pudding into four cups. To prevent a skin, press a piece of parchment paper directly onto the pudding surface. Skip that if pudding skin does not bother you. Refrigerate for 3 hours or overnight.
- Put the chocolate vanilla sandwich cookies in a large gallon resealable bag. Crush them into crumbs with a rolling pin.
- 7 Assemble the pudding cups by scattering the cookie crumbs over the four cups. Tuck three gummy worms into the crumb layer, burying a bit of one end so each one looks like it is crawling out of the dirt. Serve immediately. Enjoy with a glass of real dairy milk.
