9 Layer Bean Dip
A stacked party dip with seasoned refried beans, two cheeses, guacamole, sour cream, bacon, olives, tomato, and herbs for chip-scooping.

Ingredients
- 1 can Traditional Refried Beans
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tsp taco seasoning mix
- 1/2 cup grated Cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Monterey Jack cheese
- 2 large ripe avocados
- 1/2 lime
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 5 slices bacon
- 1/2 cup black olives
- 1 large Roma tomato
- 2 green onions
- 2 Tbsp chopped cilantro
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Tortilla chips
Directions
Start with a medium mixing bowl: add the refried beans, water, and taco seasoning, then stir until everything is evenly blended. Spoon the beans into a small casserole dish and smooth them across the bottom; mine was an 8x6, 1 1/2 quart dish. Scatter both grated cheeses over the beans. Peel the avocados and mash them with a fork, then mix in the lime juice, onion powder, and garlic powder. Spread that avocado mixture over the cheese layer. Add the sour cream in spoonfuls over the top and smooth it out; for the drizzled look, spread 1/4 cup sour cream over the guacamole, hold back 1/4 cup, and pipe the remaining 1/4 cup over the finished dip from a snipped zip-top bag. Add the bacon, then the tomatoes and olives. Finish with green onions and chopped cilantro, and grind fresh pepper over the top to taste. Serve with tortilla chips, and keep the dip covered in the refrigerator. If your lime is not very juicy, you will probably want to use the whole lime.
