Ingredients
- 2 large sweet potatoes
- 2 T olive oil
- 2 T sweet potato fry seasoning mix
- Spicy Dipping Sauce with Sriracha, optional but good!, link below
- 2 T ground coriander
- 1 T ground fennel
- 1 T dried oregano
- 1 T Aleppo Pepper
- 2 T kosher salt
Directions
- Trim the ends from the sweet potatoes, then remove the skins with a sharp vegetable peeler. Cut each sweet potato lengthwise in half, then cut it crosswise so each one becomes 4 pieces. Slice each piece into 2 or 3 thick slabs, then cut those slabs into fries, aiming for about 1/2 – 5/8 inches thick, or about 15-18 cm.
- Using a mortar and pestle or a spice grinder, crush the coriander, fennel, oregano, and Aleppo pepper together. Stir in the salt. This will season several rounds of sweet potato fries, so transfer whatever you do not use to a small jar.
- Heat the Air Fryer to 350F. While it warms up, put the cut fries in a bowl and toss them first with the olive oil, then with the seasoning mix.
- Once the Air Fryer is preheated, place the fries in the basket, set it for 27 minutes, and start cooking. Let the fries cook for 15 minutes.
- At 15 minutes, slide out the basket and, working quickly, use a large turner to flip the fries so the pieces from the bottom move to the top.
- Close the Air Fryer and continue cooking for 10-12 minutes more, until the fries are tender all the way through and golden brown. Some Air Fryers will pick up the remaining programmed time when the basket goes back in; with other models, you may need to set the time again and/or press start.
- Serve the fries hot, with Spicy Dipping Sauce with Sriracha if you’d like.
