Blood Orange Fennel Mocktail

Ingredients

  • Ice
  • 1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds, lightly crushed
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1 1/2 ounces Seedlip Grove 42
  • 1 ounce unsweetened blood orange juice
  • 1/2 ounce strong black tea, chilled
  • 1/2 ounce white grape juice
  • 1 teaspoon raw cane sugar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1 grapefruit twist

Directions

  1. Fill a coupe or small cocktail glass with ice and set it aside to chill while you mix the drink.
  2. In a mixing glass, stir the raw cane sugar with the grapefruit juice until the sugar is mostly dissolved. Add the Seedlip Grove 42, blood orange juice, chilled black tea, white grape juice, and a handful of ice. Stir until the outside of the glass feels cold.
  3. Empty the chilled serving glass. Add the crushed fennel seeds and water, swirl to coat the inside of the glass, then discard the liquid and seeds.
  4. Strain the drink into the prepared glass. Twist the grapefruit peel over the top to release its oils, run it around the rim, and drop it into the glass.
