Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Directions
- Add the ground beef to a large bowl along with the Dijon mustard, garlic, onions, blue cheese, water, egg, and a light shower of salt and pepper. Use your hands to bring everything together gently, stopping as soon as the mixture is combined. Do not work it too much.
- Form the mixture into patties, about 1/2 inch thick and a bit wider than your bun. Refrigerate them for at least 30 minutes, or until you are ready to cook.
- Set up a charcoal or gas grill for high direct heat. Dip a folded paper towel in vegetable oil, hold it with tongs, and rub the grill grates. Before the patties go on, the grill should be hot and nicely oiled.
- Sprinkle the patties with salt and pepper. Set them on the clean, oiled grill grate and cook for about 5 minutes per side. Do not press on the burgers while they are cooking.
- If you do not have a grill, cook the burgers on a grill pan or in a cast iron frying pan.
- Serve on hamburger buns with lettuce and mayonnaise.
