Ingredients
- 14 ounces loaf French bread, or Italian, sliced in half horizontally, lengthwise
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 6 cloves garlic, finely chopped, or 1 1/2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup finely shredded parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
Directions
- Heat your oven to 200°C | 400°F. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper, also called baking paper, or use foil. Set the bread on the sheet with the cut sides facing up.
- In a small bowl, stir the butter, garlic, fresh parsley and salt until everything is evenly mixed. Spoon that garlic butter over both bread halves, spreading it clear out to the edges.
- Scatter the cheeses over the bread, then finish with the dried parsley. Bake it uncovered for 20 minutes, until the cheese has melted and is bubbling.
- Switch to the broiler for about 2 minutes, just long enough for the top to turn golden and crisp. Cut into pieces and serve while warm.
