Cherry Orange Almond Mocktail
A cherry, orange, and almond mocktail with a sugared almond rim and a little black tea for cozy, rum-like depth.

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon almond meal
- 1 tablespoon turbinado sugar
- 1 orange wedge
- 1/3 cup pitted dark sweet cherries, thawed if frozen
- 2 ounces chilled strong black tea
- 1 ounce fresh orange juice
- 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 ounce orgeat syrup
- 1 teaspoon dark brown sugar
- Ice
- 1 dark sweet cherry, for garnish
Directions
- Stir the almond meal and turbinado sugar together in a small shallow dish. Run the orange wedge around the rim of a coupe or small cocktail glass, then dip the rim into the almond sugar to coat it.
- Add the cherries and brown sugar to a cocktail shaker and muddle until the cherries are juicy and broken down. Pour in the chilled black tea, orange juice, lemon juice, and orgeat syrup.
- Fill the shaker with ice and shake until the outside feels very cold. Strain the drink through a fine mesh strainer into the prepared glass, pressing lightly on the fruit if needed. Garnish with a cherry and serve right away.
