Ginger Cardamom Sangria Mocktail
A richly spiced red sangria mocktail with pomegranate, orange, ginger, cardamom, and a fizzy finish.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup peeled thinly sliced fresh ginger
- 12 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
- 2 cups pomegranate juice, chilled
- 1 1/2 cups Concord grape juice, chilled
- 1 cup fresh orange juice, chilled
- 1/2 cup strong brewed black tea, chilled
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 orange, thinly sliced
- 1 apple, cored and thinly sliced
- 2 cups chilled sparkling water
- Candied ginger, for garnish
Directions
- Combine the water, sugar, ginger, and cardamom pods in a small saucepan. Warm over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves, then remove from the heat. Cover and let the syrup steep until cool, then strain and discard the solids.
- In a large pitcher, stir together the pomegranate juice, grape juice, orange juice, black tea, lemon juice, and ginger-cardamom syrup. Add the orange and apple slices, then chill for at least one hour.
- When you are ready to serve, fill glasses with ice and pour in the sangria mixture. Top each glass with sparkling water and garnish with candied ginger, if desired.
