Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, mostly thawed and cut in halves or thirds
- 2 medium baking apples, cored, halved, and sliced, but not peeled
- 1/2 lemon
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions
- Heat the oven to 415 degrees F. Set the puff pastry rectangles on a baking pan coated with nonstick spray.
- Squeeze the lemon over the apples, then toss them gently. Add the sugar and salt, and stir again with a light hand until everything is combined. Leave the mixture alone for a few minutes.
- Lay the apple slices down the pastry rectangles in a neat line, letting each slice overlap the next as you go.
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, until the pastry has risen and turned golden brown. Take the tarts off the pan right away and transfer them to a serving platter. Serve them plain, with caramel topping, whipped cream, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
