Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 slices American cheese, each slice cut into 4 equal squares
- 16 1-inch pieces butter lettuce
- 32 crackers, such as Ritz
- For sauce:
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 tablespoon ketchup
- 1/2 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 2 slices kosher dill pickle
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon paprika
- Pinch cayenne pepper
Directions
- Shape the beef into 1-inch patties. Warm a grill pan over medium-high heat. Place in only as many patties as the pan can hold comfortably, and cook until they are just done, 1-2 minutes on each side.
- Set 1 piece butter lettuce on each cracker. Add a beef patty, followed by 1 teaspoon sauce. Lay 1 piece American cheese over the patty, then close with 1 cracker.
- For the Shack Sauce, blend all sauce ingredients until smooth, stopping to scrape the blender sides with a rubber spatula as needed.
