Ingredients
- 1.5 cups unsweetened applesauce
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 Tbsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 Tbsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 Tbsp melted butter
- 1.5 cups milk
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
Directions
- Heat the oven to 375 degrees. Grab a large bowl and whisk the apple sauce with the egg, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, baking powder and melted butter until the mixture looks even and smooth.
- Pour in the milk and whisk again until everything is blended. Switch to a spoon, add the raisins and dry rolled oats, and stir until the oats are evenly moistened.
- Mist a 9x9 casserole dish, or another 2-3 quart casserole dish, with non-stick spray. Transfer the oat mixture into the prepared dish.
- Slide the dish, uncovered, into the fully heated oven and bake for 45 minutes. Cut into 6 portions and serve. This baked oatmeal works warm or cold, and it is especially nice with cold milk poured over the top.
