Ingredients
- 8 cups Rice Chex Cereal
- 1 1/2 cups white vanilla baking chips
- 1/4 cup butter
- 3 Tbsp heavy cream
- 1 1/2 Tbsp orange zest
- 1 tsp orange extract
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Directions
- Add 8 cups Rice Chex Cereal to a very large mixing bowl and put it aside. In a microwave-safe mixing bowl, place the vanilla baking chips, butter, cream, and orange zest.
- Heat the mixture in the microwave at 50% power in 30 second bursts, stirring with a fork after each one, until everything is melted and smooth. Mix in the orange extract.
- Pour the orange-vanilla coating over the Chex Cereal. Using a rubber spatula, fold gently until the cereal is coated all over.
- Transfer the coated cereal to a 2 gallon ziploc bag. Add the powdered sugar, close the bag, and shake until the cereal is evenly covered.
- For a crunchier version, heat the oven to 275 degrees. Spread the prepared Orange Creamsicle Buddies evenly between two cookie sheets and bake for 20 minutes, stirring once at the midpoint.
- Cool completely, then store the mixture in an airtight container.
