Small Batch Candied Walnuts
Buttery brown sugar walnuts cook in minutes for a crisp, caramel-like topping that adds sweetness and crunch wherever you sprinkle them.

Ingredients
- 1/2 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 cup walnuts
Directions
- Place the butter, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt in a small non-stick skillet. Set it over medium heat and warm until the butter has melted and the sugar is starting to bubble a bit at the outer edge; the mixture will still look sandy.
- Stir in the walnuts, either chopped or whole, and turn them through the brown sugar mixture until they are coated. Cook over medium heat, stirring as you go, for 2-4 minutes, until the sugar has melted completely and clings to the walnuts in a shiny coating instead of looking grainy.
- Take the skillet off the heat right away, because melted sugar can scorch quickly. Transfer the candied nuts to a piece of parchment paper, spreading them into one flat layer and separating them as well as you can.
- Leave the nuts to cool completely, about 10 minutes. As they cool, the sweet coating will firm up.
