Weeknight Garlic Knots

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for brushing the knots
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions

  1. Heat the oven to 400°F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Set the dough on a lightly floured work surface and cut it into 4 equal pieces. Press each piece into a 4-inch by 10-inch rectangle, then cut each rectangle into 4 strips, each about 1-inch long.
  3. Tie each strip into a loose knot, tucking the ends underneath as you go. Arrange the knots on the prepared baking sheet with the folded knot side facing up, then bake until they are cooked through and just lightly golden, about 20 minutes.
  4. While the knots bake, whisk the oil, butter, minced garlic, salt, garlic powder, and oregano together in a large bowl. Once the knots are golden-brown, take them out of the oven and toss them in the garlic butter. Serve immediately.
