Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1/4 tsp cumin
- 1/8 tsp cinnamon
- 2 cups uncooked long grain jasmine rice
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 1 bay leaf, optional
Directions
- Combine the butter, garlic, turmeric, cumin, and cinnamon in a medium sauce pot. Cook over medium heat for 1-2 minutes, stirring as needed, until the garlic begins to soften.
- Pour the dry rice into the pot. Stir it through the spiced butter and continue cooking over medium heat for about 2 minutes, just enough to lightly toast the grains. A little crackle or pop from the rice is totally fine.
- Pour in the chicken broth and add the bay leaf. Cover the pot, turn the heat up to high, and bring everything to a vigorous boil. Once it is fully boiling, lower the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes with the lid still on.
- When the 20 minutes are up, turn off the heat and leave the pot covered for another 10 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork, then serve.
