Ingredients
- 6 cups halved pitted cherries
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/4 cups old fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 cups sliced almonds
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 8 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, diced, plus more for greasing baking dish
Directions
- Set the rack in the center of the oven, then heat it to 350 degrees F. Coat a 9-inch baking dish with butter.
- Put the cherries in a medium bowl, add the sugar, and turn them together until the fruit is evenly coated. Transfer the cherries to the buttered dish.
- In a large bowl, stir together the oats, flour, almonds, and salt. Using your fingertips, work the cold butter through the dry mixture until it feels like damp sand.
- Scatter the oat mixture over the cherries. Bake for about 60 minutes, until the top is golden. Let it cool a bit, then serve it warm. Add Greek yogurt on top, if you like.
