Ingredients
- 3 pounds chicken wing drummettes
- 1 green onion, thinly sliced on the diagonal
- 2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3 Tbsp honey
- 1-inch piece of ginger, peeled and grated
- 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 1/8 teaspoon sriracha hot sauce
Directions
- Set your oven to 425 degrees F, with a rack placed in the upper third. Cover a roasting pan or a heavy baking sheet with foil, then swipe the foil with olive oil or canola oil so the wings do not stick.
- In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, grated ginger, garlic, and hot sauce. Pour off half to use later as the finishing sauce, about 1/4 cup, and set it aside.
- Put the chicken wings in a bowl and toss them with the marinade that remains. Arrange them on the foil-lined roasting pan with the skin sides facing down, making sure the pan is not crowded.
- Roast for 15 minutes. Take the pan out, turn the wings with tongs so the skin faces up, and return them to the oven for another 10 minutes, until nicely browned. Peek at them as they cook; if they start getting too dark, move the pan to a lower rack or cover them with foil while they finish.
- Transfer the cooked wings to a bowl and toss them with the reserved marinade sauce.
- Scatter the green onion slices and toasted sesame seeds over the wings to serve.
