Ingredients
- 1 bunch lacinato kale
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
Directions
- Trim away the tough center ribs from the kale. You can run a sharp knife along both sides of each stem, or hold the leaf near the bottom and pull the stem out toward the tip. Pile the leaves together, cut them crosswise into 1 inch ribbons, then rinse them thoroughly in a colander under cool water.
- Mince the garlic and put it in a large pot with 1 tablespoon of neutral cooking oil, or whichever cooking oil you like best. Set the pot over medium heat and sauté for about 1 minute, just until fragrant.
- Add the rinsed kale to the pot. Stir as it cooks, letting the leaves soften until they look wilted and shiny, about 5 minutes. If you like kale on the more tender side, keep it on the heat a little longer.
- Pour in the soy sauce and toasted sesame oil, then add the sesame seeds. Toss everything until the kale is evenly coated, taste, and adjust the seasoning however you like. Serve warm.
