Broccoli Gratin

Ingredients

  • 2 heads of broccoli, cut into florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Directions

  1. Set your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Warm the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Stir in the garlic and cook just until it smells toasty and sweet, about 1 minute. Add the broccoli florets and cook for 3 minutes, giving everything an occasional stir. Take the pan off the heat and leave it nearby.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, cheddar cheese, butter, salt and pepper until the topping comes together evenly.
  4. Butter an 8-inch baking dish, or coat it with cooking spray. Spoon the cooked broccoli into the dish, then pour the heavy cream over it. Scatter the breadcrumb mixture evenly across the broccoli.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes; you want a browned top and little bubbles showing around the edges. Serve warm.
